Direct driven start by power supply

The manual of the inverter I used previously warned that "Do not use a magnetic contactor on the power supply side to start or stop the motor (inverter). Frequent starting/stopping of the inverter may cause an inverter failure".

This warning is replaced with "If the start signal (start switch) remains on after a power failure, the inverter will automatically restart as soon as the power is restored." in the manual of the E-500 and warning on the inverter failure disappeared.
Was a countermeasure to prevent the failure taken?

Answer

The warning "Do not use a magnetic contactor on the inverter input for frequent starting/stopping of the inverter." is indicated in the precautions at the beginning of the Instruction Manual.

Since a large rush current flows at the first power-on to charge the main circuit capacitor of the capacitor, frequent turning on and off shortens the life of the diode of the converter section.

Be sure to turn ON the control terminal STF or STR to start and stop the motor.
