Overcurrent

I use the inverter (FR-E520-3.7K) and induction motor (3.7 kW 4P) to drive a cylinder (φ800 × 600 H, hollow) using a belt and pulleys.
Since the load (cylinder) is heavy and its inertia is large, "OL" frequently occurs during acceleration and deceleration.
Does this affect the inverter life?
Is the regenerative resistor required?

Answer

Frequent occurrences of OL means that the inverter is overloaded.
Since the inverter can go faulty if it is constantly overloaded, you need to take a countermeasure.

It is recommended to set the acceleration/deceleration time of the inverter to a larger value.
Addition of the regenerative resistor is effective for OL during deceleration but not for OL during acceleration.
