Clutch connection of load
Is it OK to use an electromagnetic clutch to connect a load to a motor that is rotated at a constant speed by the inverter?

Answer
Since a large load is applied to the motor when the electromagnetic clutch turns on, overcurrent may occur if the load is heavy. To ensure that the rated current is not exceeded, select the inverter and motor with sufficient room in their capacities (although operation can usually continue without a trip due to the current limit function).
Note that when continuing operation without a trip due to the inverter's current limit function, the rotations per minute decrease when the load is connected.
