Detection of the motor load

The fan is controlled by using eight E500 series inverters (3.7 to 0.75). The motor and fan are connected with the belt.
Is it possible to detect the normal operation and belt breakage only by the E500 without external detector?
Category :

Answer

An inverter is used to rotate a motor but it cannot be used to detect whether the belt is broken or not.
However, the magnitude of the load will change when the belt is broken.
The output current of the inverter differs between before the belt is broken and after the belt is broken.
For example
1. Measure the output current at the 60 Hz output with a belt.
2. Measure the output current at the 60 Hz output without belt.
During actual operation, whether the belt is cut off or not can be detected as follows: The belt is not broken when the current at the 60 Hz output is equivalent to the current value of "1.". The belt is broken when the current at the 60 Hz is equivalent to the current value of "2.".
