Shielded wiring of external speed setting potentiometer

It is instructed in the manual that when connecting the external setting potentiometer via a shield wire, the shield should be connected to the inverter (terminal 5) instead of the ground (earth).
The manual explains that this is to reduce influence by noise. How does this reduce noise?
Category :

Answer

Grounding can often get dirty due to influence from the inverter main circuit switching.
Therefore, when the potentiometer shielded wire is connected to the ground, noise is adversely applied the shield and the output frequency can become unstable.
Therefore, it is recommended to connect the shielded wire to the terminal SD, a common inverter control terminal.
We provide a booklet that explains other noise countermeasures. Request your local office for this booklet.
