Position control
I am considering how to control positioning of equipment that moves horizontally.
What are the pros and cons of using vector inverter, servo motor, and stepping motor?
What are the pros and cons of using vector inverter, servo motor, and stepping motor?

Answer
The servo motor provides the highest precision and response.
With the vector inverter, position control using pulse train input ensures position control at precision of encoder resolution ±1 pulse.
However, since the motor inertia is large, the response is lower than the servo motor.
The stepping motor uses open-loop control and precision equivalent to the servo motor cannot be expected, and also loss in synchronism may occur.
